    This is not a repair guide, it's a test guide. It doesn't actually show any SOLUTIONS for problems. For what it's worth, great explanation of what the TEST is actually doing though.

    Great info. But what about 2 opto switches that are in the same column, right next to each other rows? When one is activated, the other gets activated, and vise versa. No other switche is involved. How do you resolve this issue?

    Great video. Clear explanation. I'm stuck on one thing: if the current flows as you have drawn (from column to row, or top right to bottom left) then aren't the diodes pointing in the wrong direction?

    What are those 2 thin plastic strips under playfield for? I’m missing them on my game. Thanks

    I have a situation where when I press one switch it will show that like 5 other switches are closed as well. For example, I press switch 1 and it indicates that 33, 21, 19, 12, 7, and 1 are pressed. But when I press any of the other switches on that list it will register as itself only. This also happens for other switches. So like all those numbers, +1, +2, and +3. Is this a matrix problem or something else?

    Have you tried any of these bulbs in a Capcom machine? Capcoms are notorious for flicker. Thanks.

    Great video, very helpful, but that background music is horrible. And it's as loud as the speaker, so it's very distracting.

    TERRY BRITTON, the older switch matrix used AC coils AC solenoids AC relays, why did they switch over to using DC coils, solenoids, relays? DC uses less current draw and more torque but how so? Why does pinball games use PIA chips for the light lamp matrix and for the switch matrix they use PIA chips for what reasons to use PIA chips?

    I don't have too much trouble soldering under these conditions in your video. Where I could use the help is soldering while the playfield is tipped back against the cabinet. I'm trying to solder in some new bulb sockets without much luck. The soldering isn't flowing across the bracket where the ground wire runs over the bracket by the screw that holds it to the underside of the playfield. Any hints for me?

    The LED bulbs have a 3-4 times longer life, lower current draw and less heat generation. But honestly the investment is really made for appearance. The other advantages are just plusses.

  • @PinBallReviewerRepairs
    @PinBallReviewerRepairs 12 років тому

    Thanks for the comparisons. Seems spendy over the regular bulbs. What is the usual life span of a regular bulb and a LED? I assume the LED lights will last longer?

    Cool I have a ton of oxidized switches on my pin. I am thinking of trying out 99% alcohol on them and see how clean they get. Hoping I don't have to replace any of them heh.
